This Privacy Policy applies to the PdfScanner app (referred to as "Application") for mobile devices, created by Vikas Awasthi (referred to as "Service Provider") as an Ad Supported service. This service is intended for use "AS IS".
By using the Application, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data transparently and responsibly.
Personal Information We Collect
The Application accesses or collects the following categories of Personal Information:
Device or Other IDs
The Application collects and uses Device or Other IDs, specifically:
- Device ID — a unique identifier associated with your device, used for analytics and ad serving purposes
- Advertising ID — accessed via the
AD_ID permission and Google AdServices, used by AdMob to serve personalized advertisements
Photos
The Application accesses Photos stored on your device. This access occurs via the READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, and READ_MEDIA_IMAGES permissions. Photos are accessed only when you explicitly select an image to scan or convert to PDF. Photos are processed locally on your device and are not uploaded, stored on our servers, or shared with any third party.
Videos
The Application may access Videos stored on your device as part of Android's broad storage access granted by the READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE and WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permissions. The Application does not actively use, read, upload, or collect video content. Video access is an incidental result of the storage permissions required for PDF creation and file saving features.
Voice or Sound Recordings
The Application may access Voice or Sound Recordings on your device as part of Android's broad storage access granted by the READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE and WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permissions. The Application does not actively use, read, upload, or collect audio or voice recording content. This access is an incidental result of the storage permissions required for core PDF functionality.
Files and Documents
The Application accesses Files and Documents on your device when you choose to import them for PDF conversion. Only files you explicitly select are accessed. Files are processed locally and are not uploaded, stored on our servers, or shared with any third party.
Usage and Analytics Data
The Application also collects the following non-personal usage data:
- Your device's Internet Protocol (IP) address
- Pages of the Application you visit, time and date of your visit, time spent on pages
- Total time spent on the Application
- The operating system used on your mobile device
- App interaction data — buttons clicked and features used
- Crash logs — error and crash reports to improve app stability
- Coarse location — approximate location derived from your IP address for analytics
What We Do NOT Collect
The Application does not collect: precise location, phone number, user account information, contacts, text messages, installed apps list, health information, or sensitive personal information. The Application does not use AI technologies to process your data.
App Permissions
The Application requests the following permissions to provide its core functionality:
- CAMERA — To scan physical documents using your device camera. Only activated when you explicitly start a scan. Not used for any other purpose.
- READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE — To import existing images, files, and documents from your device for PDF conversion. Grants access to Photos, Videos, and Voice or Sound Recordings as part of Android storage access, though only documents and images you select are actively used.
- WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE — To save generated PDF files to your device. Grants write access to Photos, Videos, and Voice or Sound Recordings as part of Android storage access, though only PDF output files are written by the app.
- READ_MEDIA_IMAGES — To allow gallery image selection on Android 13+. Only images you explicitly select are accessed.
- INTERNET — To load advertisements via AdMob and send anonymous analytics/crash data.
- ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE — To check network connectivity before loading ads or sending analytics.
- FOREGROUND_SERVICE — To keep PDF processing running in the foreground during large document conversions.
- WAKE_LOCK — To prevent the screen from sleeping during long scans or PDF conversions.
- AD_ID (com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID) — To access the Advertising ID for serving personalized ads via AdMob.
- ACCESS_ADSERVICES_AD_ID — Used by Google AdServices SDK for ad identification on Android 13+.
- ACCESS_ADSERVICES_ATTRIBUTION — Used by Google AdServices SDK to measure ad campaign effectiveness.
- ACCESS_ADSERVICES_TOPICS — Used by Google AdServices SDK to serve interest-based ads via Android's Privacy Sandbox Topics API, which runs on-device and does not share browsing history.
Third Party Access and Data Sharing
Only aggregated, anonymized data is periodically transmitted to external services to help improve the Application. The Application uses the following third-party services:
Right to Know About Data Sharing
You have the right to know whether your personal data is shared with third parties. We share your data as follows:
- Google Play Services — Device information and app usage data for core app functionality and analytics.
- AdMob / Google AdServices — Advertising ID and Device ID for personalized advertisement serving. AdServices also uses on-device Topics API for interest-based ads.
- Legal requirements — We may share your information as required by law or to comply with legal process.
- Safety — We may share information to protect rights, safety, or investigate fraud.
We do not sell your personal information to any third parties.

You can stop all collection of information by uninstalling the Application using the standard uninstall process on your mobile device or via the Google Play Store.
Data Retention Policy
The Service Provider will retain User Provided data for as long as you use the Application and for a reasonable time thereafter. To request deletion of your data, contact us at vikasawasthi717@gmail.com and we will respond within a reasonable time.
